Ita Tonga is a native of Laie, Hawaii. She completed her BA at Brigham Young University in Communications with a Public Relations emphasis and a JD at the University of Utah Law School. She has worked as a law clerk, elementary school teacher, BYU adjunct professor, and a Job Developer for the Welfare and Self-Reliance Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she helped nearly 200 people find jobs in under two years. She was later promoted to a Regional Employment Specialist where she trained employment missionaries serving in Central US and Canada to help people find jobs. Her time at EnableUtah has been focused on keeping the organization compliant with all necessary rules, regulations, and policies so clients can continue to job train and learn skills that foster independence and growth. Ita is involved in many volunteer capacities in the community. She enjoys attending her children’s sporting events and spending time with her husband and four children.
